This project is a new building adjacent to a General's residence in the Presidio. The idea was to create an architecture vocabulary that was evocative of and sympathetic to the main residence, but with a modern sensibility. The client wanted something that was cozy, evocative of being in a tree house, with floor to ceiling windows to take advantage of the views of the bay.

This was a project to transform a 1400 sf 1894 Victorian home into an energy efficient, modern 3200 sf home. The entire house was seismically upgraded and a third story was added, set back from the street to keep the small scale facade at the street level and to provide a deck off of the master bedroom and bath. The house is solar powered, has 3 heating zones for increased efficiency, and dual flush toilets to reduce water consumption.
